In House

In house recruitment is at the core of our business. We have experience recruiting for junior Legal Counsel roles, first time sole counsel roles, building entire legal departments, and working with executives to hire the most senior members of their legal teams, including General Counsels and Chief Legal Officers.

Most important to our in-house recruitment approach is that in selecting candidates, we understand the critical difference between practicing at a law firm versus an in-house legal department. With this in mind, we are able to select lawyers who are not just great technicians, but who are also astute business thinkers, and are poised to become trusted advisors to the organizations they serve.

Law Firms

Coming from Bay Street beginnings, law firms and private practice recruitment continue to form a big part of our community. Over the years, we have worked with every major Canadian law firm to recruit both at the Associate and Partner level.

What we have learned from this process is that lateral movement is inevitable, and that different law firms - whether it be people, practice area, platform, demographics or compensation - can sometimes offer a better fit for lawyers.

With this in mind, we work closely with both law firm Partners and Talent Acquisition Managers to support their own recruitment efforts, often having greater success as a confidential intermediary for candidates in the very tight knit Bay Street community.

Successful recruiting relies on building trust based relationships with clients and candidates. I understand that those relationships often precede a recruitment campaign, and last long after they’re completed.

I build trust through open and consistent communication with both client and candidate partners. I’m in perpetual contact with my network, often acting as a trusted advisor on compensation, career path, succession, and providing general market intel.

With these relationships firmly in place, I succeed for my clients where other searches often fail. I understand that where there’s communication there’s trust, and where there’s trust, there’s communication.
